The Ebro Delta is one of the most unique and fascinating places in Catalonia. As for the Parc dels Ports, It is one of those spots that is not known to the tourists and ends up a good surprise with its wild nature and rugged mountains.
Delta del Ebre roadtrip in campervan.

Delta del Ebro - Flamingos, drive in the sand and eat paella.
This getaway is perfect for a long weekend (2,5 days up to 4 days) We suggest exploring the Ebro Delta, where you can observe birds in the lagoons. It's the largest wetland in Catalonia and one of the most important in Western Europe. To delve into the Delta, you'll navigate a labyrinth of narrow roads surrounded by lagoons and rice fields that seem to lead nowhere.

Far del Fangar, Buda Island, Poblenou del Delta,Punta de la Banya, flamingos in La tacanda and sunset in playa del trabucador

For the first night, you can stay at a private estate that offers its space to share their way of life (€20/night). It has a small cabin with a shower (no hot water) and a toilet.

Parc natural dels ports
On the second day, we completely change scenery by arriving at the Parc Natural dels Ports.
Mont Caro is the highest point of the park at 1,442 meters. The panorama is exceptional, offering a privileged view of the northern face of Montsià, the towns of Castellón, the entire massif, and the various localities settled along the banks of the Ebro River.
It's a luxury to be able to reach the summit with a camper and enjoy the landscape.

You can spend the night at Mont Caro, but be cautious as it can be very windy. In this case, we suggest this spot:
GPS: 40.824207, 0.371718
It's located lower down and is very quiet. It's next to the road, but there's very little traffic.
Our third stop to discover this beautiful park is La Fontcalda and its outdoor hot springs (28 degrees Celsius). It's an ideal place to spend the day with family or friends. Besides enjoying a comforting bath in its hot springs, you can also venture into the waterfalls and walk around the surroundings.

Cala Waikiki
Before returning to Barcelona, a very good idea is to stop on the Costa Dorada and enjoy its wild beaches.
One option is Cala Waikiki near Altafulla. To access the cove, you need to leave the van near the Torre de la Mora campsite and walk along trails for about 15–20 minutes through forests, cliffs, and natural vegetation until you first reach a beach called Cala de la Roca Plana, and finally arrive at our destination, which is Playa Fonda or Waikiki.
